Simple Sew Trench Coat Sewing Pattern
SR01ADVENTUROUS BEGINNER PATTERNUK SIZES 8-20Our Pleated Trench Coat, is catwalk inspired, and we think you might agree that fabric wise, this is the most versatile coat you could make for the Autumn/Winter season and even moving into Spring depending on the weather. We have made it with a fortuitously found remnant of Burberry breathable waterproof fabric in this fabulous red colour. It was easy to sew with, if you haven’t used this kind of fabric before, it’s no different really than sewing with regular medium weight cotton. There is a pleated skirt and separate bodice construction with this coat, it is similar to sewing up a wrap dress in many ways. The collarless lapels are satisfyingly easy to sew up with just a simple facing to negotiate and the odd pivoted corner to turn around, in addition the pockets require concentration, but really for a coat, this is a comparatively quick sew. Our aim is to provide you with the simplest route as far as we can to creating your wardrobe staples and this coat is definitely a step in that direction. The Pleated Wrapover Trench coat does not have a lining as a result, so you will have to finish all your inside seams neatly with an overlocker or zig zag stitches..but for such a simple version of a classic coat, this isn’t really much of a hardship!Suitable fabrics:Breathable waterproof fabrics, heavyweight cotton, suiting, tweed, taffeta, denim, boiled wool.
